29/95 Commando Regiments 50th anniversary July 2012
(Commando 50)
As you are all probably well aware 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of 29/95 Commando Regiment RA.
This page will hopefully give you an idea of what to expect during the reunion weekend of 20th-21st-22nd July 2012.
Friday 20th will be a performance of Music of the night, this will be the final ever performance of MOTN (again). Tickets for this event are available at £30 per person. Content of the show will follow the well loved formula of previous MOTN including the RA & RM band and a guest appearance of the military wives choir. This is always a good show for all the family, ending with a spectacular firework display.
For those of you coming for the weekend but not wishing to attend MOTN Plymouth Regroup will be hosting a get together in the Mount Pleasant. There will be some form of food probably a curry or buffet paid for by Regroup, so it would be helpful if you could drop me a line if you are attending this event so we can have an idea of numbers attending. This is in no way set up in opposition to MOTN I was asked by the organisers of MOTN to set this up as they believe there will be quite a few of you coming down but just want to meet up for a chin wag and swing the lamp a bit!

Saturday 21st will begin with a commemorative service at St Andrews Minster on Saturday morning followed by the Regiment exercising their right under the Freedom of the City Charter to parade through Plymouth. There will then be a civil reception for certain individuals and our visiting dignitaries whilst the vast majority of us return to The Citadel where 'Battery Bars' will be established around the square and the reunion can begin in earnest. There will be a Sunset Ceremony/Beating of the Retreat on the Regimental Square.
Sunday 22nd For those who can make it! Sunday will commence with a Drumhead Service outside at our Memorial square followed by a Curry Lunch before dispersal. It is anticipated that this will be a relaxed but poignant weekend marking a memorable date in our history.
Accommodation will over this weekend will be at a premium as we have the happy clappy crowd (Jehovas witnesses) descending on Plymouth at the same time. They usually bring down up to 10,000 to worship in home park football ground. I would therefore advise you to book accommodation ASAP if you haven't already.
Rik Groves has worked out a deal with Plymouth university to use the student accommodation vacant for the summer. Below are details of how to book:
