THE YOMP HAS BEGUN!
HERE ARE A FEW SHOTS OF SPIDER SETTING OFF THIS MORNING ACCOMPANIED BY DARREN (TOMO) THOMPSON.
They are well on course to be finishing at around 1600 on Sunday afternoon, some quite bad blisters but in true 29 style they are determined to complete the course.
Passed Cadover bridge at 13.30 Sunday 24.08.2008
HE ALWAYS HAD THE BEST UP TO DATE KIT!
HE ALWAYS WAS SHY & RETIRING!
HONEST HE'S NOT MY DAD!
THE INTREPID EXPLORERS SET OFF
The latest report is that the dynamic duo have reached the half way stage and attained day one objective Princetown!
Spider starts to show the strain!
However Tomo seems to be keeping his cool (even after spending all day alone with Spider )
By the way I've just done a quick measurement and the route they are taking is nearer 40 miles not 30!
Anyone in the Plymouth area if you want to support them come along to the Fisherman's on Sunday afternoon.
TAKES PLACE THIS WEEKEND! YOU CAN STILL DONATE BY CONTACTING ME ON THE EMAIL BELOW. BETTER STILL IF YOU ARE IN THE PLYMOUTH AREA OVER THE WEEKEND COME AND WELCOME HIM BACK FROM HIS TREK. HE SHOULD BE AT THE FISHERMAN'S LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON. OR IF YOU FEEL MORE ADVENTUROUS HE WILL BE STAYING OVER NIGHT AT THE PLUME OF DOOM IN PRINCETOWN, DROP IN AND SHARE A DRINK WITH HIM.
**We have just received a huge offer of a donation to the tune of £250 from one ex member! If you want to donate, no matter how large or small let me know & I'll forward the pay pal details to you so you can make an instant pledge**
Brian (Spider) Webster will be completing a yomp across Dartmoor (roughly 30 miles) over the August bank holiday weekend . The route will be from Okehampton to Plymouth with a night in Princetown, he intends to finish on the Sunday afternoon at the Fisherman's arms (where else?)
He is doing this yomp to assist raising funds for a proposed memorial to be placed outside of the Royal Citadel in honour of all who have fallen on active service since we became a Commando Regiment.
If you wish to support or donate to his effort please contact me on the usual email address. I will be putting a donation sheet on the web site shortly so you can either pledge by cheque or on pay pal.
Spider is also looking for volunteers to join him. If you think you'd like to spend a bank holiday weekend yomping 30 miles across Dartmoor let me know & I'll pass your details on. Currently I am his only back up support so if you can offer assistance in this area it would also be appreciated.
Spider will be carrying the names of all who donate with him, so you'll be with him in spirit if not in body.
Up to now we've raised around £250. The target we are hoping to reach is £1000. All donations big or small will be greatly appreciated.
A report from the inaugural meeting of the Spanish Regroup is on Regroup reports page. Also a message from the BC 79 Bty. (Now with photos)
Check out the first items on offer on the new regroup store page. Although there isn't much in the "store" now, this is a new section and will grow as time goes on. Please be patient.
Have a look at the new page entitled "The EX Factor" Here's a chance to share your talents with us or do what we all do best, become a critic.

Good to see the forum is now getting some good contributions! I would like to thank Mark Walker for his input and refreshing the forum pages, well done Mark keep up the good work.
Please do enter into the spirit of the forum and add your comments especially on the subject of the CGA This is your association & this is your chance to shape it, so come on guys lets hear what you think.
Why not start your own thread on any subject you like, this is YOUR forum. So come on get involved. Let me know I'm not putting my time & effort into this site for nothing!!!
If you are having problems getting on the forum or problems loading photos let me know & I'll help.
Check out the Falklands 25 years on. This is a personal account of the Falklands conflict from my view, if you want to share your memories and or photos please do contribute. I am hoping this will help make for a good snap shot of the last conflict we British did without the aid of our cousins across the pond!
Your contributions are important to give the Falklands diary a more rounded view. Please do get involved and send in your memories of the war as you saw it.
Where I can I will be using the original documents & signals sent to add authenticity.
A Falklands Diary Twenty Five Years On updated 20/06/2007
I have recently had some enquiries about finishing the Falklands diary. I have every intention of completing it & adding the photos I received during the recent reunion. As usual if you would like your memories included then please do send your contributions in to me here at the usual address commandogunner@aol.com
I still need input from you guys to help the site move forward, as you can see from the links above some haven't been updated for some time. Tales of the swinging lamp & Get it off your chest are almost 2 years old now. Come on I'm sure you have a confession or three to tell, or just an old story you want to share with the world!
The main aim of this site was originally designed as a method for old friends to keep in touch or to contact lost friends. Over the period it has been running it has developed and changed to encompass a wider variety of information, stories, photos etc. The site you now see is going to develop more from here.
I am hoping to have more reports from old grunts around the country and world, that I hope emulate us here and start meetings of ex members in your area.
We aim to provide more information for ex service guys through our own information network on subjects such as war pensions, British Legion contact details etc. We need YOUR help as we not guru's and do not have all information to hand. If you think you can help then please forward the details to me ASAP.
What I would like is more interaction from you guys, let me know what you would like to see on here and how you would like it to be developed.
I will of course be happy to upload any information received from the CGA, it just seems that the CGA is at the moment a non existent association.
