Paddy Boyd ( ex 7 & 8 Battery) & Fitz (ex 79 and 7)
Deeply saddened to learn that members of my old unit paid the ultimate price for the freedom of others. Sincere condolences to their families and comrades alike. Gone but never forgotten. It feels very strange to be back here in safety (after the experience of '82) with nothing more to fear than the nutters on the road to work, knowing what you are enduring. But I know you will all endure it well, and that right and justice will prevail. My pride at being able to say "I know those guys, that's my old unit" is immeasurable. Keep up the good work, stay alert, finish the job as soon as you can and come home safe to the Mother and Father of all welcome home parties!

Although Norway is not part of the coalition there is an awful lot of (silent) steadfast support for this mission in this country. The sacrifice that is being made by commando forces will be seen in the future as a milestone for a new order to give the people of that region justice, hope and dignity in the future.
Best wishes,
